B: I guess so.④ I mean it's really nice of them to offer, and it's free. The only problem is they already have four people living there, so it could be a little crowded. And not ideal for studying for mid terms.

A: Yeah, too many distractions. Any other options?

B: Well, ⑤I did find this place, it's a small hotel over on third street right near campus.

A: Oh, right. A lot of kids' parents stay there when they come for a visit.

B: Right. ⑥So I could get a room there. They have a weekly rate and it's pretty reasonable. But, I don't know.

A: ⑦At least at the hotel you ’d have a space on your own, you know, so you could get more done.

B: That's definitely a plus. But I have to think about it. Even though it's pretty cheap,⑧ it will still end up costing me some money and my budget is pretty tight right now.

In the conversation, the woman’s problem is that she has to move out right away because the water pipe in her apartment is broken. There are two possible solutions. The first is to stay at a friend’s place; the second solution is to rent a room in a hotel near campus. I think the second solution is better. First of all, if she rents a room in a hotel, she can have a quiet and personal space to prepare for mid-term exam, there are too many distractions at her friend’s place. Second, the hotel’s near campus, therefore it’ll be easier for her to get to school and library every day. Spending some extra money isn’t so bad considering the fact that she will have better chance at getting a good grade on her exams.

 为了模拟北美大学课堂的学术气氛和学生在校园生活的方方面面,integrated speaking部分的Task3从不同程度上涉及了Read/Listen/Speak三个方面,并且首次允许考生作课堂笔记。这种题型有利有弊,对听力不好的考生来说这是个坎儿,而它的优势就在于它通过听力和阅读给大家提供了更多的信息点。通常这部分是围绕着Campus situation topic 而展开的。

 提议:因为这部分对话一般都是在male和 female之间进行的,所以建议大家在做笔记的时候如下面所示这样记录,这样会更加有条理,你无论是在做笔记还是在preparation时都可以更加便利!

 试题评析

 (1) 人称的正确使用。She likes the idea to open several food service centers around campus. 主语应该是he。这个问题很小我们也一再地强调,但是还是有人不断地犯错,在这里再申明一次请在准备之前一定仔细阅读清楚它的题目要求,State his opinion and explain the reasons he gives for holding that opinion.

 (2) There are also not enough space for every student.这句话如果表达为:there is also no enough space for every student to sit.这样会更好一些!还有在这句话和前句话之间夹一个moreover这样会使陈述过渡地更加自然。同时建议大家在平常的学习中多多积累一些 signal words或者可以说是 transitions(过渡词),这无论对广大考生的口语还是写作都有很大帮助!

 (3) 语言表达多样性上有待提高。通观他的全部陈述内容,首先可以肯定他已经很好地把握了听力和阅读部分的主要信息。不足之处就是不止一次出现food service centers,这样会造成考官的听觉疲劳,他会认为你的词汇量缺乏。听力中的several smaller eating places可以拿来和它互换使用,而且阅读中的最后一句:Including two cafes, a deli, a barbecue grill, and a fine dining room.可以加进陈述内容中去,这样会使你的表达更加丰满!

 题型分析

 它的题目流程和Task3是一样的,也是Read/Listen/Speak三者结合,都属于 integrated speaking题型。不过是关于an academic topic,总的来说,Task4比Task3的难度更加提升了一些,这就要考察你ablity of combining the main information of the reading with that of what you heared.

 注意事项

 广大考生们一定要注意在做Task4时,它并不要求你发表自己的观点,不要在你的陈述中加入?I think------?或者是?In my opinion?,这是多此一举!而且它也不要求你必须具备听力或者阅读材料中所涉及的相关学术领域的专业知识,你只需要合理地结合两部分给出的信息,然后依据这些信息进行充分有效地回答!

 Sample1把重点都放在了一些比较理论的叙述上,而缺乏了对tying shoes这个事例的介绍和分析。首先,大家要注意调整好你所陈述topic的主观即理论部分和事例部分各自所占的合理分配比例。为什么这样说呢?因为很多人在做Task4时往往是走两个极端的路线,要么都是纯理论的阐述要么就是偏重于listening中的事例说明,都没有完美地把两部分结合。

 There are two groups of students must have type their shoes. The first group which is told they will be observed type faster than the second group which is not told that they are observed. This is the first principle of the audience effect. Secondly, people who are told they are observed, when they are typing, they make more mistakes than the second group who are not told they are observed. This is the second principle of the audience effect.

 解析:

 (1)纵观Sample2的陈述,他表达地较有条理,但是和Sample1相比较,它正好缺乏对the principle of audience effects的理论部分陈述,如果把Sample1 和Sample2的表达结合一下就完美了。

 (2)多样性有待提高。在Sample2中多次听到they are observed这种表达,这样就显得客户词汇量有限,其实可以把observe和watch互换地应用!考生们应该注意了!

 (3)指示词的有效运用。本段中使用了secondly,这很好!但是回头看前面的陈述并没有发现 firstly,所以这样整体听起来就显得有点突兀、不连贯。指示词和过渡词的恰当使用无论在口语中还是写作中都起着举足轻重的作用。它会使你的口语表达重点突出,层次分明,更加流畅,过渡也更加自然。下面就列举一些常用的指示词和过渡词,希望大家多多应用在自己的口语表达和写作中。

 一、流程

 在正式考口语之前会要求学生来测试录音,需要学生回答一个问题,然后计算机来检测是不是录音成功了,大多都会谈论一个你喜欢的或者所在的城市,在测试录音的时候如果录音失败了,很有可能是因为你说话的声音太小了,你需要去调整好音量并且记住你在测试的时候说话的时候声音的大小。

 积累口语素材

 积累口语的素材可以按照作文素材的分类积累,不要去积累比较常见的段落,这样容易让考官认为你是在背素材,在平时训练的时候要练习造句,必须要说出来并不是写下来,要有目标的练习造句,可以从简单的句子开始训练,练习常见的句子不要很复杂的。除了单个句子的训练之外,还要把单个句子连成段落,你需要灵活的使用连接词。

 练习口语发音

 口语的发音是最基础的,每个同学都应该把自己的口语训练好,减少中国式的发音,要多用英语来讲话,可以去模仿外国人他们的发音。你可以在听英文的材料的时候跟着读,并且录下自己的声音,听材料中的发音去改正自己口语发音不正确的问题。

 题目重点:

 本题在阅读和听力的内容当中都不算很难,考生基本可以比较准确的捕捉到重点信息,需要注意的点还是这个题目的常规重点------基础语法,很多考生容易把he、she混淆,同时在单数第三人称上准确度偏低,在能够看懂听明白的情况下,只有基础语法的准确度提升上来,整体的口语才有可能达到good的标准。

 P3 Honeybees and Bumblebees

 难度:中等

 主要内容为两种不同的蜜蜂,都有自己的独特方式作为沟通交流信息的信号,其中honeybees会通过自己特殊的舞蹈去沟通,而bumblebees会通过产生特殊的化学物质进行交流,并讲解了蜜蜂会考虑投入成本和产出的关系决定是否交流location,本篇文章在17年和18年1月两次考试中都有重复,难点在于把握两种蜜蜂的区别。

 P4 威尼斯船只的变化

 难度:中等偏上

 内容主要讲解受到外界因素影响,威尼斯造船业发生的变化,尤其是新的船只的特点,把握其与之前就有的船只的不同点即可很好答题。本文的背景直接重复TPO文章,TPO25P2,威尼斯造船业的衰落,TPO17中也有类似背景知识,只要认真精读过,难度系数会直线降低。

托福 口语一二题常考的几个话题都有哪些方面

一、object类话题

根据以往常出的题目总结来看,object往往可以分为tangible object(有形物体)以及intangible

object(无形无体)。

Tangible object,顾名思义我们能够看得见摸得着的实物,除了一些比较常规的special gift,meaning

object之外,还包括出题者最爱考的一些关于book类的话题,即让我们描述最喜欢看的、或是读过的最有意义的一本书。另外,较为常见的一些题目还包括描述a

song, a film, a painting, a

photograph等题目。在这样的题目当中,很多同学因为不知道要说什么或是不熟悉这样的事物导致完全说不出或是表述不流利,结结巴巴说不到重点。在遇到此类题目,一个比较简单的思路就是不要纠结于一些大家都要知道的名著,我们完全可以从自己比较熟悉的一些话题展开,如自己画的第一幅全家福。另外,尽量避免每个人都在讲的一些话题,比如大部分人都在说《Harry

Potter》,那我们如果换成《How to win friends》会不会好很多呢?一定不要给自己挖坑,怎么便于表述怎么来。

至于intangible object,较为常考的有让我们去描述positive invention,favorite

subject,important

characteristic等话题。在这里还是一样,就我们容易表述的说,每个想法列出两个关键词,再去展开就可以了,在这里表述以简单易懂为主,千万不要说一些高深曲折的大道理。掌握了这些素材之后,object类题目就没问题了。所以建议在考试之前,先把所有可能会考到的题目先过一遍,想到要说什么就已经成功了一半了。

二、person类话题

Person类话题在task 1的考试中形式不多,总结起来无非两类人,一种是我们比较熟悉的在我们身边的人,例如family member, best

friend, favorite teacher, an old person you

respect等,由于这些都是我们较为熟悉的,所以比较容易想到,在表述的时候也较为简单。相对来说会有一定难度的就是第二类人——famous

person名人了。在task

1,它有可能让你去描述一位你钦佩、喜欢或是想见面的名人,甚至给你规定一定领域。这是如果碰到一些不关注这一领域的就不太好说了。比如一些女生平时对体育不感兴趣,但考试的时候让你去描述一个你最喜欢的足球选手,那可能一下子就懵圈了。但是遇到这样的题目也不用怕,在我们备考时完全可以提前准备好相关素材,在考试的时候也不是任何领域都会考我们,常见的也就actor/actress,

singer, spotsman, business man,

leader这几类,所以就算我们不喜欢不感兴趣,只要我每个领域都想出来一个人就完全没有问题啦。

在这里给到两个我们凡事涉及到人都非常通用的一些素材思路,一是表述ta在专业领域上的卓越表现。比如ta是歌手,我们说ta歌唱得好,是演员我们说ta演技精湛,是商人我们说ta把公司治理的优秀等。二是私下的品质特征,如responsible,humorous,helpful等。其中的helpful更是非常通用,基本上所有的名人都比较喜欢做一些慈善工作帮助有需要的人,所以我们可以说道Besides

the fact that he is such a shining movie star, he also devotes himself to the

charity career. He always donate some money and make no effect to help those

people in need. 你看,基本上所有的名人都能用吧!

三、place类话题

在遇到让我们描述place的题目的时候,其实也不是很难。还是可以把它分为两方面,一是“大地方”,如country,city,state等,往往会联系着travel一起考;另外一方面就是我们所谓的“小地方”,如library,museum,park,cafe,campus等地方。在遇到place的时候,我们可以从这几个思路着手,一是这个地方与我们而言的special

meaning(特殊意义),二是这个地方的function(功能)。比如我常去这家cafe是因为一,我可以在这家咖啡馆里跟朋友小聚一下,喝喝咖啡聊聊天;二,这是我从小到大一直去的一家店,见证了我的成长,对我而言意味着很多。以这样的角度出发,place类话题也可以轻松拿下啦!

四、event类话题

很多考生会比较头疼遇到event类话题,但是这一类话题往往是我们在备考时最容易准备的。因为很多题目我们都可以把它合并成为相似话题,用同一个素材就可以对待各种不同题目。我们最常考的就是一些对你而言比较有意义的,最近发生的比较兴奋地,或是你获得成长的,或是你克服的某个困难,再或者是别人帮助你的一次经历。这些题目其实我们都可以用一个思路,如:我最近参加了某个演讲比赛,一开始觉得没信心,但是经过朋友的帮助及鼓励,后来赢得了冠军。你看,这样的思路,是不是刚刚几个题目都能用得上了?那另外一类题目就是有些负面的,比如让你描述一次别人惹恼你的经历,或是你生气的经历。在这里可以用一个非常简单好表述的思路,如某人在一个禁烟的公共场所吸烟,你劝告后仍不听,因此你很生气。表述起来也比较简单吧。
