　 1.内容冗杂，华而不实

　国内文章大多篇幅过长，例如高考作文，一般都需要大量篇幅来进行描述。以至于很多学生在写作留学文书时很容易犯错误，采用大量篇幅和华丽词藻来进行修饰，导致内容冗长，华而不实。

　 2.夸夸其谈，空话连篇

My interest in science dates back to my early childhood. I have always excelled in physical sciences and have received numerous awards in mathematics in high school. 　I would like to apply to do a Management degree. Having acted as Managing Director on a Young Enterprise Team whilst doing my ?AS? levels, I came up with innovative ideas that made a very successful company. 　对内容有了把握后，就是要注意写作技巧了。这里说的写作技巧不是英语水平的问题，而是写作的思路、取材和段落的安排。写自述的最大忌讳就是写得毫无特色、枯燥乏味。要知道每一个录取评审委员需要阅读成百上千份自述，其中大多数的自述的内容都是雷同的，他们不可能有时间、精力和气力在平淡中寻找不寻常，努力发掘你的优秀之处。要写得醒目，抓住读者的注意力，这个责任完全在于你自己。

　1. 克服生活中的逆境型：Peterson's Guide中曾经登载的一封外国人申请时写的自述，作者的家庭背景是贫苦的、不识英文的第一代亚裔移民。作者没有回避自己多花了几年时间才完成大学的教育并且成绩较差这一惨痛的事实，而是就此问题展开对自己的介绍。他的家庭贫困，作为长子肩负帮助父母抚养年幼的妹妹的重任。这样，完成大学教育对他来说需要艰苦卓绝的努力。因此，通过他的叙述，一位奋斗不息、刻苦耐劳并具有高度责任感的年轻人的形象跃然纸上。

　这位作者申请的学校是法学院，难度较大，但作者有力地陈述了他的理由：他的父母像许多亚裔移民一样，不通英文，更不懂在美国用法律的手段来保护自己的权益。他现在申请读法学院，目的就是为了将来能够运用法律的武器维护在美国少数族裔的权益。

　2. 自我成长型：这种申请人在生活、学业和工作上虽不可避免地会遇到挫折，但相对来说，他们的生活进行得比较一帆风顺。写这种自述一定要用正面、肯定的语气，清楚、精炼，同时又要充分、多方面地展示自己独特的才智、事业和求学的追求方向。

　三段：

　说明为什么你想申请某大学的某专业。这一段要尽量写出此学校和此专业的与众不同。简单的说，就是为什么这个学校吸引你，为什么这个专业吸引你。比如，该专业就业前景好，或者研究水平高，该学校的地理位置好，学校的师资力量强，专业排名好等等。并且最好结合学生将来的职业规划，让导师了解该学生是一个有着长远打算的学生，有思想。（25%）

　四段：

　要表明你为什么是个合格的申请者。这一段你要强调你个人的与众不同之处。但是首先要表明你超越了学校规定的基本入学指标。以后结合自己的优点来表明你是一个合格的申请者。比如你有快速的学习能力，扎实的专业知识，对该研究领域无与伦比的热爱等。（30%）

　结尾段：

　再次表明自己的决心，对研究方向的热情等。如果被录取，一定能快速投入学习和研究中去等等。（10%）

　 个人陈述写作技巧

　1.开始要趁早

　一般要给自己4-6周的时间来写这个人陈述。不是因为你在两天之内写不完，而是为了避免时间太短促，个人压力很大，因而影响发挥，而且我们需要时间得到反馈。如果你是一个拖延症患者，给自己的写作设置一个期限，基本上就一周左右吧（这样距离申请还有三周的时间），必要的时候才能有时间检查和修改。

　2.理解个人陈述要说明什么

　中心思想只有两个，而且理解起来非常简单就是：为什么你要来这个大学？为什么学校要选择你而不是别人？为了说明这两个方面我们要有这些理论支撑：

　1）为什么对申请的专业有兴趣

　可以说说你的经历跟你想学这个专业的渊源，或者家庭的影响，比方说亲戚朋友有学这个专业或者从事相关工作，对你很有启发等等，越详细越好。

　2）为什么申请这个学校

　这个可能有很多原因，你可以说说自己的想法，比方说你比较注重学校的排名，而这个学校的排名非常高，你觉得学校的地理位置很好，有怡人的风景，或者是学校的专业设置对你来说非常有吸引力。

　3）你自己对专业的认识，对未来的规划，你觉得你在这个专业能有什么样的收获，达到什么样的效果，比方说考证什么的，或者说一说未来跟专业相关的职业规划，也能让人印象深刻，让对方知道你学习这个专业是经过深思熟虑，有长久的计划的。

　4）自己原来的成绩如何GPA等，个人的研究能力，参加的跟专业相关的课余活动或者是学生组织中担任过什么职务，最好举出实例，用数据说话，参加人数，你在其中扮演什么角色，有什么样的贡献等。如果有论文等文章发表过，列出详细信息。个人爱好，荣誉等，和这些在学业上的帮助。

　3.自我反思时间

　简单写一写为什么是你的理由：你有一些什么样能拿得上台面的个人兴趣、天赋和能力，让你在众多申请者中脱颖而出。

　4.了解学校

　找出你申请的学校什么方面最有名，最骄傲的部分是什么，证明为什么这个学校适合你与你的兴趣发展。运用这些知识储备向招生负责人展示你有多了解学校，这些成绩对你而言究竟代表了什么意义。举个例子，你感兴趣的学校刚好有一个很大型的本科研究项目，告诉他们你很愿意成为那个项目的一份子（前提是那个项目对你的专业学习有帮助）。如果学校里有一位你特别喜欢的老师，你想要跟他/她一起学习，一起合作，那么就在你的陈述中写出来。

　5.列出大纲

　按照传统论文的写作流程；开始介绍自己的观点，正文中解释自己的观点，结尾处总结。个人陈述的开始和结尾一定要观点鲜明，吸引人继续读下去，中间论证一定要充分，才是一篇好的个人陈述。

　6.通过实例展示个人能力

　通过一些实例证明自己的才能跟信仰，而不是一直描述自己对某些东西有多投入。文章还应该包含一些具体的例子说明你是一个有自己个性的人而不光是一个学生，像提一些跟学习有关的专业兴趣和个人兴趣。比方说，如果你对大学里的工程学很感兴趣，所以很有必要提一提你在高中时候参加的机器人小组，你为学校参加的科技展赢得的奖项等。如果你想申请的是研究生，那文章就要专注于专业经验，强调个人的全面发展。

　7.落笔（或者是把你的手指放到键盘上）

　开始着手写了。把你所有的想法都落实到纸上，不断精简、完善；这就是我工作的重点。但是不要一边写一边我。如果你不信，最后只能是面对空空的电脑屏幕。读完自己第一次尝试写的东西，不要灰心，初稿基本上都不会是最好的，这个问题没法避免，只能一直坚持写；有时候想到一个很好的创意或想法，允许自己暂时地偏离主题。把所有的点都写写来之后，精简、修改、重新组织就变得容易很多。

　8.修改、重新审视、完善

　修改的时候要问自己这几个问题：招生官想了解的问题我回答清楚了吗？如果你的回答是no，那就重新开始吧。第一句话是不是吸引到你的注意？自己的观点是不是很有逻辑性？你是自己一直在讲述还是在展示？你看起来很特别、与众不同、很有趣吗？有没有说到自己的故事或者相关的部分？这些都是重点。

　9.请别人看一下

　确保让有相关经验的人（可以是老师、有申请经验的同学，或者留学专业人士）帮你看看。加拿大院校申请的风格偏向于精炼、有个人的风格，你请教的人一定要提前了解这一点。

　 个人陈述写作注意事项

　1.避免把陈述变成讲故事

　个人陈述要做到言简意赅。尽量用简短的话语表达自己的观点。避免个人陈述条理不清。写完一定要多修改，多检查。
